Sorry for the delayed reply, had an emergency to attend to. So back where we left off. Since the OS was installed in IDE mode (default), I did a small registry edit to enable the AHCI driver before switching the SATA mode for the intel controller to [AHCI] in BIOS setup (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976). Rebooted just fine and updated currently installed Microsoft's Standard AHCI 1.0 SATA Controller driver to latest Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver & rebooted to finalize driver installation. Everything seems to work fine but when I inserted a game disc on DVD RW Drive #1, a dialog box appeared which read: Cannot locate cd-rom; 'Please insert the correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart the application'. Tried on DVD RW Drive #2 & other game discs with the same result except on data discs which works fine. And also games without the need to insert their respective game disc can be played too. Can each of the SATA devices can be configured individually even though all are connected to the Intel SATA ports? I mean, the hard drive to AHCI & the 2 optical drives to IDE mode. And lastly, I keep activating my OS everytime I turn my desktop on, why is that? Any thoughts? There must be a way on how to fix this problem? |
